Beauty Routine Calendar: Plan Your Care Schedule

Answer seven short questions about how your bare skin feels and looks, and see whether it is dry, normal, oily or combination, and whether it is sensitive.
The skin type quiz turns seven everyday observations into one of four skin types: dry, normal, oily or combination. It also tells you whether your skin behaves as sensitive. Use it as a second opinion next to the bare-face test described in How to Find Your Skin Type.
Each of the first six questions has four answers, and each answer belongs to one skin type. The quiz counts your answers and shows the type that you chose most often. A seventh question asks how easily your skin stings, burns, itches or turns red. The result comes with a short care list for your type and links to the matching ArniSun guides.
| Question | What it asks about |
|---|---|
| 1 | How your skin feels one hour after washing, with nothing applied |
| 2 | How your face looks by the middle of the day |
| 3 | How visible your pores are |
| 4 | How a rich cream feels on your skin |
| 5 | How often you get blackheads or breakouts |
| 6 | Whether you get rough or flaky patches |
| 7 | How often your skin reacts to new products, wind or heat |
Answer for clean, bare skin on an ordinary day. All seven questions need an answer.
The result shows a table with the number of answers for every type, so that you can see how clear the result was.
If you leave a question out, the quiz does not guess. It shows "Choose an answer for question 3." under that question, with the right number, and keeps the answers you have already given.
Suppose your skin is shiny on the forehead, nose and chin after an hour (combination), shiny in the center by midday (combination), with pores that are easy to see all over (oily), a rich cream that is heavy on the nose and forehead (combination), breakouts mostly on the forehead, nose and chin (combination) and rough patches rarely (normal). You react to new products sometimes.
The count is combination 4, oily 1, normal 1 and dry 0. The result is "Combination skin, possibly sensitive".
The quiz is based only on your own answers. It is not a medical assessment and cannot diagnose a skin condition such as eczema, rosacea or acne. Skin type changes with the season, age and hormones, so repeat the quiz when your skin feels different. Once you know your type, the Skincare Routine Builder can lay out a routine for it.
It is as accurate as your observations. The quiz counts your answers by fixed rules and does not examine your skin. Compare it with the bare-face test, and see a dermatologist if your skin is persistently sore, red or flaky.
Yes. Skin is often oilier in hot, humid weather and drier in winter, and it tends to become drier with age. Repeat the quiz when the seasons change or when your usual products stop feeling right.
Sensitivity is usually treated as a condition that can come with any type. That is why the quiz asks about it separately: you can have oily and sensitive skin, or dry and sensitive skin.
