About the role
ArniSun publishes practical guides on beauty, hair care and skincare, with free interactive tools. We are looking for a web developer to maintain and extend the website that delivers them.
The site is built without heavy frameworks: server-side PHP, a MySQL database, semantic HTML, modern CSS and plain JavaScript, on Apache. You will care about speed, security and accessibility as much as about features.

Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain website features in PHP, with a MySQL database.
- Build responsive, accessible page templates in HTML5 and CSS3.
- Write clear, dependency-free JavaScript, with progressive enhancement.
- Protect the site against common vulnerabilities, validate all input and handle secrets safely.
- Improve performance, including caching, database queries, images and page weight.
- Write and run tests before each release, and document changes.
- Work with the SEO specialist on structured data, sitemaps, canonical addresses and redirects.
- Review code, and respond to bug reports from the QA tester.
Qualifications
- Solid experience with current versions of PHP and MySQL.
- Strong HTML5, CSS3 and vanilla JavaScript skills, without reliance on frameworks.
- A good understanding of web security, including access control, request forgery protection, output escaping and safe file uploads.
- Experience with Apache configuration and .htaccess rules.
- Knowledge of web accessibility guidelines and performance measurement.
- Experience with version control, and with writing tests.
- Clear written communication.
